Walking through the streets of Historic Downtown McKinney, I am constantly inspired by the buildings and architecture and pure character of my surroundings. Part of being an artist is being able to take all of these things in through a clear lens. I am attracted to the bold colors and shapes of vintage electronics from the 1950s - 1970s. The objects pop and are a work of art in their own right. I showcase them on textured white backgrounds or juxtapose them on bold patterns. The objects that I paint are nostalgic--just like the historic downtown I enjoy everyday, and are often family heirlooms. One of my favorite parts of showing my work is listening to people’s stories associated with an object or seeing them interact with it.
